Grandmillennial Roombox
When BBH Singapore reached out to us with a project idea, we were so intrigued by their concept. Working in tandem with four other talented miniaturists, we each created a video set with a distinct design style to showcase miniature versions of some great Samsung products.
So many tiny details went into the completed project. While we initially planned on purchasing furnishings, we ended up not finding much of what we needed, and made nearly everything ourselves.

The Roombox
SCALE
After some discussion with the client, we settled on 1:12 for the scale.
MATERIALS
We constructed the roombox using 0.25” MDF exterior walls, 1/8” built-ins and trim of 1/16” wood.
PAINT
To keep the colors subtle, we used Sherwin Williams
WALLPAPER
We really wanted something that would have some color and texture, and created this wallpaper.
FLOORING
We chose to install a wide plank floor, and used a few sheets of Dove White Oak.
CEILING
Detachable with lighting
FRONT PANEL
Detachable with clear acrylic windows

UPHOLSTERED BED
Upholstered bed with mattress, sheets and bedspread

CONSOLE TABLE
This part was especially fun, as the table holds a secret.

BESPOKE AIR PURIFIERS
The air purifiers were pretty fun. We rendered out the bases for 3D printing and made separate files to laser cut the fronts.
The biggest challenge was finding the perfect shade of dusty metallic pink for that exquisite modern herringbone grate.
While we initially were only going to make the cube, we agreed to add the tall option as well and included a nesting base for each as well.
AIRDRESSER
We designed the AirDresser to slide into place in the built-in closet structure.
The three hanger inserts can slide in and out of place and the optional rack can be stored in place or hung from hooks inside the door.
For realism (and drama) we lit the AirDresser from above using a battery light. Of course, housing the battery was a challenge, but we worked out a way to run wire down the back and into the base. The power switch is accessible by sliding out the lower insert.
While we designed the AirDresser to feature the Crystal Mirror door, we ended up including multiple door options to echo the product options of Glam White and Satin Beige doors as well. Switching out the doors involves removing the pins from the hinges on the door side.
MOBILE DEVICES
Because we just couldn’t resist, we included four different mobile devices. We designed them to represent Samsung mobile devises in four different colors with different front face options.
The black option shows a generic screen saver, the white option shows an AirDresser control interface, and the pink and green options show an air purifier control interface.
THE FREESTYLE PROJECTOR
The Freestyle is SO tiny, but has a completely functioning swivel and will rotate on the swivel with gentle pressure.
While we were initially going to make the standard version, we ended up adding an option with the battery base. (Because, realism!) This option allows for any placement, as the projector would not need to be plugged in if it is attached to the battery base. Body will rotate on swivel with gentle pressure.
Because the projector comes with an optional carrying case, we just had to include one. It has the tiniest little wire clip and can be displayed with the lid on or off.
And to really be insane, we also added the remote. And, this is staring to sound redundant, but it was the tiniest.
The Closet
HIS CLOTHES
Four pieces of hanging clothes have been included for him. Each piece has been styled with spray starch.
Five hangers are included for him.
Additionally, a belt has been included that can be placed in the closet or elsewhere.
We 3D-printed each little shoe, hand painted them and then sealed them with a matte coating to prevent paint chipping.
Four pairs of mens shoes and one pair of slippers are included.
HER CLOTHES

Additionally, a pale pink dress has been included that can be hung in the AirDresser.

Four pairs of womens shoes and one pair of fabric bedroom slippers are included.
HATS, BAGS AND BOXES
Nine shoe boxes with tissue paper are included. We actually designed different boxes and logos for each box. You can find them as a printable here.
Two hats are included. They were crazy annoying to make. We made the smaller, fedora and loved it. The second had was as remake of a hat that we had in our stash. It was originally a leather cowboy hat, but we flatted out the brim, painted (I know, crazy) it and added a ribbon.
Lidded storage boxes (4)
Oof, these handbags. We ended up making two of them, and they were so fiddly.
Two shopping bags with tissue are included. Bags may be placed behind handbags, or elsewhere in the scene.
